How about a fresh start in a new forum??

How is everyone this Saturday morning?  Our weather here in the midwest is beautiful... cooling down a bit a just wonderful for outdoor activities.

Are all your kids back in school? Did I mention my daughter got a job teaching 5th grade? It's been so fun helping her set up her classroom and helping her with projects for school She's still at home and hopes to move out this year if this job holds up. After her being out of my house for 4 or more years for college it's nice to have her home again.

My grandson began gymboree this week He just loves it. Do any of you go to Gymboree with your little ones?

Have a great weekend

Congrats to your daughter dori!  She will have an exciting time with 5th graders.  Although now in these times, they are more like 8th graders. It is so hot here today, 102 already!  I wish I had a pool to take my group too but the only one close is the YMCA, too crowded there!  And of course everyone is at Santa Cruz, closest beach which is 29 miles away.

I have seen little kids at the Gymboree at the Mall, they seem to really enjoy it and have fun.  My friend took her niece, exp. $250.00 for ten times!  That is crazy!  Everyone isn't as lucky as 5littleones, she lives in the most beautiful place, it is Heaven for children and adults both!  I am jealous Abbe!!!!!!!!!  Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.  I am going to call Nicki in a little bit and see what is happening down her way.

5littleones's picture

Its heaven!

Yeap its heaven! The nice 75 degrees, the lake, the breeze and the mountains. Im I making u more jealous? lol just kidding

The taxes are unbelievably high. So that makes up for the bad stuff.

lori's picture

Taxes

It is ridiculous the taxes any more.  I know in Ky. they are lower than here, and it is getting worse all the time!  I think I will send my son to Arby's for a Roast Beef n Cheddar, they did have that sale, five items for $5.00.  Hope it is still on!  Watermelon time too, I am sick of strawberries I have eaten so much of them, and they get mold on them soooo fast!

New House

Is your house done now Abbe?

5littleones's picture

The house

The houe is finally done! Im really excitied we have a lot more room.

lori's picture

Congrats!

I bet the kids are enjoying the new house addition.  Matt hasn't seen it either so it will new for him when he comes home.  Pretty soon it will be Halloween time, do you take them out or parties somewhere? I only had 6 people last year and all teenagers, my friend lives five minutes from my neighborhood and she had over 150 kids.  People came in cars and dropped them off.

5littleones's picture

Halloween!

I love dressing the kids up for Halloween! We only drive to family members house because hauling the kids around the town would be hard.

lori's picture

Halloween parties!

They are so much fun, I love decorating the house for Halloween, I have some really nice ones, bought a lot at 50% off from Cracker Barrel several years ago and they are excellent quality.  I remember years and years and years ago, I went to a party when I was in the 8th grade, a cute boy gave me a ride home on his Mo-Ped and that song, The Monster Mash was a Hit, we danced and danced to that, brings back some good memories!  Of course I got grounded because I wasn't home by 9:00pm, stayed out till 10:00pm and you would have thought the world had come to an end!  My mother was very strict, Dad never home, he was always out drunk somewhere!

5littleones's picture

Memories

The kids and I just paint pumpkins! I remember 8th grade during Halloween.  I was a trouble maker so me and my group would ding-dong ditch. All those memories of things we did when we were younger just crack me up. I didnt realize back them what dumb things we did.

lori's picture

Entourage

I love that show!  Ari cracks me up, and I love his assistant!  Vince is tooo cute to me, I hear Mark Walberg will be a guest on there and the series is based loosely on him and his escapades.  He has been very successful and is a good father.  I am happy for him and have always enjoyed his movies.

Is your new home a Victorian?  I know they have lots of them in Atlanta and I remember once you saying you didn't live in the suburbs.  I do love those beautiful Victorian homes!  They have lots of steps though and the rooms are kind of small, but they are so beautiful and made very sturdy.  Hopefully you have a nice sized yard for the kids, in the South, the yards are like huge lots!  I love that too and everyone has a riding lawnmower.  My husband was amazed at all the space in the land when we went back home this year.

Hi Oriana!  Our new house

Hi Oriana!  Our new house is actually a penthouse in a highrise condominium!!  Surprise! Smile  I guess I haven't really mentioned that on here, but maybe I'll have to write a blog entry about it.  We're really excited about all the features it offers for our family.  Victorians are indeed very beautiful, especially if the character of the home is properly preserved, but you know me- I had to go for something cosmopolitan and chic! Wink  We're in the muck of the move right now, and should actually be "moved" by Sept. 20.  We orginally were aiming for more of the middle of this month, but things came up and progressions are slower than expected with a bunch of little people running around!

lori's picture

Please be careful kimora's mommy!

I just get so nervous about those high rises ever since I heard about Eric Clapton's little boy falling out that window!  It is too dangerous with small children.  Please be extra cautious!  I am surprised for I would think you would want a place with a big yard with all the little ones. Maybe you are close to a nice Park there in Atlanta.  I have never seen such a city grow as much as Atlanta has!  I thought about you when I saw the ad for Desperate Housewives of Atlanta! Ha!  I thought the ones in New York were stupid!  Enjoy your new home and have fun decorating, I know you have probably already looked at new furniture!  Does your Condo building have a Pool? That would be nice as hot as the weather gets down there.  Have a nice evening!

Congrats on finishing your house....

Doesn't it feel good? We did additions on our first house and the kids grew up in that house. What did you do to your house?

Thanks Lori... you're right... gymboree is costly , it was 168.00.You can use the open gym every day of the week during certain hours if you like. So it is a fair price. He loves it!!!

102  is darn hot! Is it dry at least?

I remember when I lived in the San Fernando Valley(Encino)  you couldn't get in the car ...you couldn't touch the steering wheel, it was burning hot!

Have a good evening all...

HI Dori

I do love all the decorations and the Pumpkin Patches.  I remember the old time Hay Rides, guess not too many people do those any more. Mine was at church and we loved it!  Love Apple Cider too and all the Peach and Apple turnovers.  Wish I could make them!

hi lori

We use to  like to go to the pumpkin patches and go on hayrides too!!! But all the farms have closed ... all we have in our area is 1 apple orchard where we pick apples, get apple cider and pies and turnovers.  (use to have 3 )I miss it too.Use to love to take the kids.

My husband is a big lover of Taffey Apples and we see them in the stores now!

Maybe I can ship you some things Lori???

We are beginning to get weather in the 70's and it's so nice.. you can feel fall comming.. soon the trees will turn colors. I love this time of year!!!

I don't like to fight... so I am reaching out to you so you understand I meant no harm with my comment I was kind of joking around and didn't realize what was going on I came in , in the middle of a conversation.

I apologize for the misunderstanding and hope you understand I didn't mean to insult your choice of baby names. Whatever happened on babyrazzi happened a long time ago and I'd like to leave it in the past. (I don't honestly remember what it was ) I did go read your blog and now understand you are in the process of adopting two children I commend you for this decision. I also have 2 adopted mixed race girls who are now grown up, so I undertsand you more than you realize and we actually have a lot in common . My daughter is also a teacher.  So lets leave the past in the past and start over again ok?

Very Admirable Dori!

I for one, am very moved by this message from Dori!  I think we all should be able to forgive and forget which is something I have not entirely learned how to do so I need prayer ladies!  It is difficult to move on sometimes, but it is best for the spirit and it hurts us to not let go.  Kimora's mommy gave me some good advice not long ago and I know she has a forgiving and kind nature about her.  Now Dori, you put this behind you and get those Turnovers and pies in the mail to San Jose!!!!! Ha!

Kx3 Mommy's picture

To Dori

I don't like to fight, either.  To be honest, I don't have run-ins with people very often....and virtually never in "real-life."  I understand how you were confused by coming in during the middle of the conversation.  I would just encourage you next time to make sure you understand, because comments made can be hurtful when the premises aren't clear.  Please, don't make comments about Lexapro anymore.  That medicine has helped a lot of people; not everyone who has to take Lexapro, Prozac, etc. are "loony" (more people are on those than one would expect).  Anxiety issues and such are very common and can be helped by taking Lexapro, so please don't throw names of drugs around like that anymore, as that can be very hurtful as well.

That said, of course I forgive you.  Misunderstandings are inevitable sometimes.  I'm all for starting over, and I too hope we can put this behind us.  The past is passed...from here, onward.

Lia is a True Lady!!!

I have said it before and I'll say it again, kimora's mommy is a Class Act in my opinion!  I like dori very much, I have been sick with a sinus infection all weekend and reading these lovely messages, it has perked me up!  I do consider you my friends and even though we all disagree from time to time, we are decent people and wish each other well.  I want to say Congrats to 5littleones on her wedding Anniversary today and much prayers and love sent Matt's way!

Nicki, your email box must be full, it keeps kicking back, sorry I missed your call, I was hanging my head and couldn't get to the phone.  And Congrats to you too!!!!  You lucky thing!

Everyone have a safe and blessed weekend!

5littleones's picture

Thank You Lori!

Thanks for the congrats.

I agree with Lori about Lia!

hope your better

Hope you are feeling better.  Last Friday the youngest granddaughter was ill also, bronchitis.  She spent her weekend spread all over the couch.

I spent the weeikend helping to put together the new nursery and shopping for an outfit to bring the princess home it.

Lia, congrats on the move.  Hope you all are enjoying the space.

lori's picture

HI Granny!

Got your email, thank you so much!  Feeling better, the sinus infection can really make you weak and sick at your stomach.  I know you are having so much fun shopping for little girl clothes!  They look like doll clothes for the newborns.  I love the Strawberry Shortcake stuff.  Are you having much rain down there?  Take care, have a nice evening!

Rain

Rain ended two days ago.  We are back into the 80's and lower 90's again.  So I guess it isn't fall in Oklahoma yet.

Yes, if I keep buying for the baby, I will have to unretire or Wes will need to get a second job.

Lori

Lia

 Lia

Thank you for your nice note. Please let me clarify the lexapro statement.....90 % of the women  my age take it..so we all joke about it . Menopause and hormone imbalance.. gotta love it( you have this to look forward to)  and trying to adjust to a world thats changing quicker than we can keep up. We come from simpler times. Going to the grocery store is overwhelming. So many choices... Hope this made some of you giggle. And I  Hope no one is offended.

dori

your aquagirldori

I took it

I took Lexapro for about a year and most people cannot believe why.  When I was trying to decide to retire or not, I actually got depressed deeply.  Plus my mother was dying at the time and Brendan was born with health issues at the same time.  So I didn't know who to be with, the one trying to leave or the one trying to stay.  My dad losing his lifelong spouse or my daughter about to lose her newborn.  And I couldn't decide if I was afraid the job couldn't get along without me or even worse, that they could.  Lexapro probably kept me from being on the 6 o'clock news.

Lori

I hope not!!!! No , I keep an eye on it... 5 lbs max!I'm not a skinny girl to begin with.
