Because the entries are not in any kind of order I thought I'd start a new forum. It gets confusing for me.
It's August now and it's really hot. Been going to the beach a lot this year. I live 5 minutes from a very pretty beach. This weekend we expect 90's!!! Love that Lake Michigan it's so clean and clear and now the temp is near 80 and so fun! Who else lives near a beach? How is the weather where you live?
Love this time of year don't you;)

Water
We live on a lake. I love living close to the water it entertains the kids without having to spend money. It is beautiful to especially when the sun is going down. Its been about 90 degrees here.
Hi Dori!
You are lucky to live so close to the water and yes, it does get miserably hot where you live! I never did learn how to swim! That was something I always missed out on.
I live 29 miles from Santa Cruz, Ca. but the ocean is cold and I don't understand how so many people love it over there! FL. beaches are much warmer and nicer than Ca. beaches.
Bernie Mac
Now I am really Sad!!!! I love Bernie Mac, Joe and I watch his show nightly and have had many good laughs, I think this enormous talent is truely a loss for all of us, I wish I could go to his funeral and pay my respects in person. My Aunt went to Nashville when Porter Waggoner died, Vince Gill sung his song he wrote for his brother when he was killed in a motorcycle accident (at Porter's request) and she said it was a beautiful service, I would love to be there for Bernie, "Go High Upon That Mountain" Bernie, you will be missed!!!!!!
It is very sad about Bernie.
He was such a funny man and a great loving family man. Married 30 years! And had a young granddaughter. I saw what Don Cheadle said, George Clooney, Brad Pitt said. Just sad he is gone.
Issac Hayes died the next day. How sad, he was a bit older but still sad. There will be a movie coming out, the name, maybe Soul Man?? not sure, but Bernie Mac, Issac Hayes, RIP, and Samuel L. Jackson will be starring in. Very sad time for thier families. My thoughts are with them.
Bernie's Service
I wonder if the boys will be coming in for the funeral? It would be so touching if the Ocean's crew came and were his pall bearers, I feel like crying right now! I have never seen a picture of his wife but am so glad he had a daughter and granddaughter, I saw him on Jay Leno once talking about how much he loved her, it is just a big loss. I am sorry about Issac Hayes too but he was no comparison to Bernie Mac in my opinion, sorry to his fans and family.
lori,hopefully this link works....

It is a link to his wife, very pretty and daughter, but there are other photos you can click on, two of the granddaughter.
He has so many friends, I don't know if the Oceans guys would be first pick. But would be considered if others couldn't make it, and they could. It is sad, he was such a family guy, and went through hard times in the begining and nice to see he and Rhonda were still together for so long.
And Issac Hayes is in a different field as Bernie, who was a genuis with comedy, but Issac broke ground with his songs. Many Grammys, an Oscar and many many other awards. Shaft alone won few. I remember "Never Can Say Goodbye" and "Walk on By" and "B-A-B-Y", I did love his music. Never watched South Park unless a teen was visiting, but I will say I loved his voice even as the Chef on that show, although I didn't like the show except for when they were visiting, lol.
But I agree no comparision with them. Both great in thier field. Just will be strange to see thier new movie with two of the leads now gone. Thoughts and prayers to both thier families.
Thank You Nicki!!
A beautiful family and the little girl is just precious! I am glad he had a loving family. I am anxious to see what Jay Leno says tonight as a tribute to these two remarkable men!
You are the lucky One!!!
It would be so wonderful and peaceful to live on a Lake and it has to be beautiful in the evening! My neighborhood at home (KY) is serene, older retired people, a nurse lives across the street and on one side of me lives a retired schoolteacher, but on the other side, it is a rental, very nice but they rent to college kids and they party a lot, I know it drives the old Bat across the street nuts, (sorry about that Mrs. White) Ha!!!! She is the neighborhood Watch and I do mean WATCH! At 2:00am if a car comes thru playing their music too loud she will call the cops, even after 10:00pm! I don't know how she sees everything but she does! But sometimes those kind of neighbors are good to have when you are out of town! The main street two streets over behind my house has a lot of Fast Food places, Sonic, McDonalds, Burger King, Hardees (I love, we don't have here) and a Wendy's too, on down the road leads to Western, which is my college my family went too. Brother, son, nieces and Grandmother, so Go Big Red!!!!! I know kimora's mommy has heard of Western from being in Atlanta!
Bowling Green, Ky.
Click on the site and look at how pretty the town is! No place like home!!!!!
no place like home
Kentucky is a very pretty place. I totally agree with you there is No place like home
Home security
Okay I live at the edge of town, actually across from the cemetary, in the middle of 11 acres. Because I live in the middle our circular drive is very long. Across the street from us on 1 1/2 acre lots are three homes of brothers. They watch our house so closely, that they actually on their own cut off the branches of a row of cedars on our street line above the ground to the height of 10 or 12 feet. They weren't confortable they told my husband not being able to keep a eye on us and our house. Good thing we weren't terribly fond of the trees. Of course my husband likes that I'm being babysat while he is gone. I don't know how he thinks I took care of myself working 24 years in a male federal prison. Luck!! Of course with us having triple digit temps in this part of the country, we almost every evening have people showing up to swim.
Oklahoma is supposed to have from what I have been told the highest number of total lakes, manmade and natural in the continental US. We actually have a large pond. But I don't like to swim in dark water so we have an inground pool. Funny how many friends you have in the summer when you have an inground pool. We have actually come home to our ex-daughter-in-law, her new husband and some of his family with their combined kids in our pool. We just laugh because it's all about the kids to us.
I wish I was that Lucky!
Granny, sounds like you have a home of my dreams, and many peoples dreams!!! I could never afford something like that! You are really blessed in many ways. It is nice to have good neighbors. I wish my job was in Ky. where I could be closer to my friends and family, and the Cracker Barrel! Ha! I do love the South, love Nashville and love the Southern grace and gernerous nature of the people. If I had your place it would run with tons of dogs and cats!
recession resistant
Oklahoma is one of the most reasonable places to live we are told by our out-of-state relatives. It has been pretty recession proof lately too. My parents retired from the Army to Oklahoma for that reason. But we are right in the middle of tornado alley. So everywhere has it's faults I guess. Two years ago a tornado hit just at the edge of the cemetary opposite of where whe live. My mother rests on the outer road of the cemetary. The tornado took the fence out right across 10 feet or so, from her. Too close. Sucked the flowers right off of her stone.
We have a Cracker Barrell about 20 miles away. I was there just last month. Had their pork chop dinner. Wonderful!
Cracker Barrel
They have good pot roast too and I love their beans n cornbread, they have choc cobbler too for $1.99 for choc lovers. Did you see the Oak rockers they have out front? I think practically everyone has one at home in Ky. and Tenn. Love their gift shop!
That's Right!!!
No place like home, and no place, like food at home! Ha!
Bernie Mac
Bernie lived right here in my hometown, south side. We were hearing about his illness and hospital stay daily. I was shocked to hear he had died. We will all miss him a lot.

Was it in the paper daily up there? Have you ever seen his house? Are you familiar with where they are having his funeral? I really wish I could attend, I don't know why his death has affected me so hard but it really has, I cried for two days and I miss him. It is just so sad to me. Did he get out and about in the grocery stores, restaurants, etc. there where you live?
